I am busy working through my plots, pinch point and the ‘big ending” for my NaNoWriMo entry. One of my chapters calls for some risque sex. I am of two minds here. The plot calls for the chapter to be written predominately from the point of view of the female lead. This would be a challenge to make it believable to any female readers since I am a guy, and am not privy to the inner workings of the female species. It would not work if the chapter was written from the male point of view.
On one hand, I may be responding to that challenge – to write a believable hot steamy sex scene from the POV of the female. it would be fun to write it – to make the attempt to convey, well lets call it the “process” our heroine goes through as she decides the future of the evening.
On the other hand, I am wondering if the chapter is essential to the story. Does it add anything really important. And I think it does. It give the reader some insight into how carefree and young and sexy and passionate the female and male lead are before the shit hits the fan and the reader gets yanked from an emotional high to a “Holy shit that went downhill fast” place. Or should it be cut as unnecessary.
I am not sure if it will survive, but I think am going to write it….
Maybe my wife can help….
Even if you cut it later sex scenes can take up lots of words. Great nor nano.
